The Miami Dolphins had the 3rd pick, moved down to 12th after trading with San Francisco, and now move up to 6th after trade with Eagles.

Just when you thought the Miami Dolphins weren’t done shaking up the draft board, they come right back with another stunning move. Miami traded the 12th overall pick that they had previously acquired from San Francisco and their 2022 first-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 6th pick per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Given how the Dolphins still have a first-round pick in 2022 thanks to the 49ers, this seems like a win for South Beach, as they get to stay in the top 10 and potentially take a player that they believed would still be on the board at 6.

Meanwhile, for the Eagles, they move down and acquire an extra asset for the future. Given the number of holes on their roster, it’s a move that has fans scratching their heads. Miami, on the other hand, is living large.

The Miami Dolphins are not fooling around with these moves, and they have a plan.

Thanks to what the Miami Dolphins have done to the board, while they can sit comfortably at the No. 6 overall pick, picks 10-12 now belong to the three NFC East teams that did not make the playoffs. But given how Miami is in a place where they can go in any direction on both offense or defense, general manager Chris Grier has to be breathing a sigh of relief.

Given how quarterbacks will be taken off the board early and that offensive skill players will be available at six as will impact players on defense, there are many directions to pursue. Miami may be fortunate to land Alabama’s DeVonta Smith or Florida’s Kyle Pitts to give their offense a boost. Or, if they choose to go defense, they may go with Penn State’s Micah Parsons.

Next. One NFL player you forgot played for your favorite team. dark

Miami is in a fortunate spot, and their fans had a roller coaster of emotions from moving out of the top 10 and back into the top 10 in a short span. They also grabbed assets for the future. Brighter days lie ahead in South Beach.
