2021 NFL mock draft after major trades: Picks 5-8

5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

Joe Burrow should be doing backflips here, that is if he’s recovered enough from his injured ACL. To have the top player in the greatest position of need available here is extremely fortunate. This should be a no-brainer as Penei Sewell checks all the boxes to be an elite offensive tackle prospect.

6. Miami Dolphins (via Eagles): Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

The Dolphins desperately want to surround Tua with the weapons he needs to be successful. Ja’Marr Chase is the scariest weapon in this draft. He is a true, bonafide No. 1 receiver with the tools and talent to be an All-Pro vote-getter. There are no flaws in his game. I’m starting to believe that LSU should be renamed to WR-U.

7. Detroit Lions: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

The Lions have needs everywhere but after losing Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones in free agency, wide receiver has to be the biggest one. Smith is a bit undersized, however, he has been nothing short of spectacular during his time in Alabama. The Heisman Trophy winner and National Championship MVP is a silky smooth target and a consummate pro. From all reports, with the way he approaches preparation, he is a culture changer. Great addition for Detroit.

TRADE – 8. New York Jets (via Panthers): Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

In this scenario, the Jets acquire premium draft picks and still get to select perhaps the most talented all-around player in this draft. Kyle Pitts has the type of size and speed that create mismatch nightmares on every level of the defense. His presence will give Sam Darnold an elite target who can get the ball at its highest catch point.
