NFL: 30 greatest seasons from players 30 and older: 15. Aaron Rodgers, 2014
There were a couple of brilliant seasons to pick from here and I’m going to give you a little spoiler that this isn’t the only time Aaron Rodgers shows up on this list. As far as impressive seasons age 30 and older goes, Rodgers has really only been bested by one or two players (you might be able to wager a guess as to who those could be).
One thing Rodgers has always been terrific at doing is taking care of the football. However, that certainly doesn’t come at the expense of him not making plays down the field or in the red zone. While Rodgers is obviously going to go down as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game when it’s all said and done, he has actually been better in his 30s than he was in his 20s.
In 2014 at the age of 31, Rodgers had one of the best three seasons of his entire NFL career to date. Rodgers led his team to a 12-4 record while throwing for 38 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions (the best ratio in the league). His 8.4 yards per attempt and 4,381 passing yards were something we’ve been accustomed to seeing out of him.
Rodgers capped off his age-31 season with a remarkable comeback win over Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys, but his team fell just short to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game. Still, Rodgers might be the best ever at putting up points without giving the ball away and 2014 was just another example of this.
