NFL: 30 greatest seasons from players 30 and older: 7. Aaron Rodgers, 2020
What a treat it has been to witness some of the best quarterback play in the history of the NFL recently. At my number seven spot on this list is the only player to come from the 2020 season. Though the Green Bay Packers obviously didn’t make it to the Super Bowl, it wasn’t because of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Strictly from a statistical standpoint, Rodgers’ 2020 season was one of the best we have ever seen – regardless of age. However, the fact that the future Hall of Famer was able to put up one of the best statistical outputs of all-time at the age of 37 made it all the more impressive.
In 16 games, Rodgers managed 48 touchdowns and just five interceptions – one of the best ratios in the history of the league. However, that wasn’t the only impressive statistic. Rodgers led the league in completion percentage at 70.7 percent, and his 9.6 adjusted yards per attempt was something we really only see in college football.
Rodgers’ outstanding 121.5 passer rating was the second-best single-season mark of all-time – falling short to only the 28-year-old version of himself from 2011. In addition, his total QBR was the third-best in NFL history. Rodgers led his team to a 13-3 record in 2020, and if he had topped it off with a Super Bowl win, this would have been in consideration for the greatest quarterback season of all-time.
