The Cowboys added yet another defensive lineman on a one-year deal in former Chicago Bear Brent Urban. Urban’s deal is similar to Carlos Watkins’ but the full $1.75 million is guaranteed rather than just the $400,000 for Waktins.

This makes sense given Urban’s track record of success with the Bears and Ravens with whom he spent the first five years of his career. After battling a series of injuries to start his career, the former fourth round pick has now played in 45 games over the last three seasons and has been a solid rotational player for Baltimore and Chicago.

Urban fills a need at defensive tackle with the retirement of Tyrone Crawford and the departure of Gerald McCoy but just like Watkins he is not someone you would expect to be an every down player or starter. The Cowboys still need an impact player at this position and they could find one in the early rounds of the draft if they are serious about rebuilding the defense.
