1. Scouting Report. USC. Alijah Vera-Tucker. player. 30. Pick Analysis. OL

If the Jets have learned one thing from failing Sam Darnold, it is that a good offensive line is essential for helping a rookie quarterback flourish. Alijah Vera-Tucker would be a great grab if he manages to drop to No. 23.

The Jets were weakest in their interior offensive line and Vera-Tucker is perfect to line up left guard. He is athletic for a lineman, and he gets his body in excellent positions. Another upside to this pick is that Vera-Tucker played left tackle at USC for the most of last season. With an inconsistent George Fant t right tackle for the Jets, he could be the player to start at guard and develop into a tackle.

This pick would make a huge difference to the O-line quality and will help Zach Wilson maximize his potential. He’s lso a great scheme fit as the Jets look most likely to use a zone blocking system in the run game.

CB. Northwestern. Greg Newsome II. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 30

The Jets secondary was incredibly poor last season, and cornerback in particular needs serious addressing this offseason. Greg Newsome II could be the CB1 the Jets are looking for, as they develop Bryce Hall.

Newsome is incredibly versatile and his split second decision making is excellent in coverage. He can also help out on running plays and has been great at dropping to the line of scrimmage to tackle. If Newsome can shake off his injury concerns as he never played a full season in college football, then he would fill a great need for the Jets at corner.
