Green Bay Packers biggest remaining need No. 2: Wide Receiver

One of the biggest reasons, the Green Bay Packers were so heavily critcized for their 2020 draft class (and free agency haul) was that they did not add a wide receiver outside of Devin Funchess (who opted-out eventually). However, it should be noted that the complements to Davante Adams played better than expected last season.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard both played to reasonably levels and popped up in some big moments. The issue, however, is that both receivers are limited in their overall ability. Making matters worse is the fact that no receivers are under contract for the 2022 season — including Adams.

Of course, they’ll almost surely figure out a way to lock up Adams, one of the league’s best, to a long-term extension. But bringing back Lazard and/or MVS could be difficult.

Though the Packers may have missed the boat in free agency on landing a wide receiver that could provide immediate help, the 2021 draft class is loaded at the position with both top-end quality and depth. Green Bay should be able to grab at least one quality receiver in this loaded class. In theory, they could wait — but making a move now is the wiser choice.

While Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback and with the title windown still very clearly open, the Packers making a move at wide receiver early in the draft should definitely be in the cards.
