Kyle Pitts NFL Draft landing spot No. 2: Cincinnati Bengals (Pick No. 5)

The Bengals pick one spot below the Falcons, although they may have been lower had Joe Burrow not been lost for the season with a torn ACL in Week 10. Therefore, in 2021, the name of the game is simple for Cincinnati: Protect Joe Burrow.

Drafting standout left tackle Penei Sewell would make a ton of sense considering everything I just said. Of course, the buzz seems to indicate an LSU reunion between Burrow and his top wide receiver in Baton Rouge, Ja’Marr Chase.

My issue with picking Chase — which is hardly an issue — is the Bengals don’t necessarily need to draft a receiver so early. Yes, they could use a new face in the receivers’ room after losing A.J. Green in free agency. But Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate is not a terrible trio. The Bengals could be better served to take Pitts at No. 5 to shore up their trenches with their next two picks.

Not only would Pitts be a much better replacement than (checks notes) Drew Sample and C.J. Uzomah, he’d also add some value in run protection as well. Pitts isn’t known for his blocking, but he’s shown to be sufficient enough in that aspect. Pitts in a Bengals uniform could sneakily be the best fit in the draft.

Likelihood: Moderate
