2021 NFL Mock Draft: 49ers land Mac Jones, Kyle Pitts falls to Giants
By Randy Gurzi
There have been some disturbing reports surrounding one of the Minnesota Vikings rookies from 2020. Cornerback Jeff Gladney has been accused of domestic violence and the allegations are as ugly as any that have come out in a while.
With Gladney facing felony charges, chances are the Vikings will be moving on. And while it’s not ideal to turn around and replace him with another first-round pick the very next season, they might just have to since their top corner in 2021 without Gladeny would be Patrick Peterson.
Sure Peterson could be a solid starter for them in 2021, but he’s a stop-gap player who will be 31 when the season kicks off. For that reason, Minnesota takes South Carolina defensive back Jaycee Horn at No. 14.
Horn is similar to Peterson in size and both can excel in press-man coverage. It would end up being a great pairing not only for the Vikings, but it would be amazing for Horn to have the knowledge of Peterson across from him to learn from.
2020 ended up being a breakout campaign for Horn who had been solid for the Gamecocks but never put it all together. It clicked for him this year and that almost solidifies him as a top-15 pick.
