22. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 35. S. TCU. Trevon Moehrig. player

This class isn’t particularly deep at safety but there is one player who can make it to the first round — Trevon Moehrig out of TCU. Here, he lands with the Tennessee Titans who can use what he brings to the table.

Jordan Reid of The Draft Network loves how Moehrig can change the game with his turnovers but does say he has one area to improve — in run support.

"“Trevon Moehrig is a free safety that has satisfied multiple roles for the Horned Frogs. A consistent and urgent single-high player, he’s a free-flowing mover that’s at his best when able to patrol the middle of the field. With seven career interceptions, he’s proven to not only be a constant ball disruptor, but he’s a safety that can change the momentum of games by getting the ball back to his team. His biggest improvements must come in run support, as he’s a safety that isn’t afraid to come up and tackle, but his tactics and aggressiveness while doing so can be out of control.” — Reid The Draft Network"

The question is whether or not the Titans feel comfortable pairing Moehrig and Kevin Byard who are both technically free safeties. In today’s NFL, that doesn’t seem to be as tough as it once was.

Both players will be asked to cover a lot and Moehrig is probably going to be the better of the two in that area — which is meant as a compliment to him not an insult to Byard.
