Pick Analysis. player. 56. Scouting Report. OT. Oregon. Penei Sewell. 5

It would make a lot of sense for the Cincinnati Bengals to go with Ja’Marr Chase here, and there’s been more talk that this could happen. Chase not only has a rapport with Joe Burrow but he also just put up some insane numbers at his pro day. After completely testing off the charts, there will be cries for him to join his former quarterback.

And had it not been for the performance of Tee Higgins in 2020, that might be the pick in this 2021 NFL Mock Draft. Having said that, Higgins was phenomenal as a rookie with 908 yards and six touchdowns. Cincinnati also has Tyler Boyd in the mix, meaning they have two solid pass-catchers.

Now, adding a third wouldn’t be wrong whatsoever but considering the fact that they have two good receivers and just saw their quarterback suffer a serious knee injury in 2020, the Bengals decide to take Penei Sewell here. Perhaps had Burrow not suffered his injury, this decision would change but it just feels like they’re going to want to protect Burrow better going forward.

While this decision might not be too flashy, the pick is still great. Sewell can play just about anywhere on the line so whether it’s at left tackle or guard, Cincinnati will be able to put him in front of Burrow and keep the pass rushers from making his life miserable.
