2021 NFL Mock Draft: 49ers land Mac Jones, Kyle Pitts falls to Giants
By Randy Gurzi
(Pick via Philadelphia Eagles): On the clock at No. 6 after their two trades, the Miami Dolphins can still land a player that they may have been originally targeting at No. 3. In this mock, that player is Ja’Marr Chase from LSU who nearly goes at No. 5 — and I will probably change my mind several more times about whether or not the Bengals do end up taking him.
For the reasons mentioned earlier, Chase is still on the board here and Miami should run to the podium as quick as he ran the 40-yard dash at his pro day. Chase is a legit superstar in the making and should have an immediate impact even after taking the 2020 season off due to COVID-19 concerns.
There’s no route he can’t run and his testing showed that he can also run past anyone in the NFL. For Miami, he will join an offense that can use a shot in the arm. They have some talented players in DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki, and new addition Will Fuller but in today’s NFL, you need even more players who can stretch the defense.
Chase will also protect them against injury should that continue to be a concern for Fuller and it could allow them to make a move with Parker — something that has been rumored often — should they feel so inclined. On top of that, this gives Tua Tagovailoa more than enough weapons which will allow the front office to accurately judge whether or not he’s going to be the answer.
