Grade: A

Speaking of players that will improve the Browns’ pass defense, they added another Los Angeles Ram defensive back in Troy Hill to what was initially reported as a four-year deal. The details were released soon after and Hill signed a four-year deal with two voidable years so, in reality, it is a two-year contract worth $9 millon.

Hill started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Bengals in 2015 and has since developed in to a starting caliber corner that can play both inside and outside. He started 39 games for the Rams over the last five years but started all 16 games for a dominant defense in 2020.

The former Oregon Duck excelled in his first full season as a starter with 77 tackles, 10 passes defended, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. Hill showed an incredible nose for the ball and racked up 3 defensive touchdowns for the Rams defense including a game-sealing pick-six in Week 13.

Hill provides great versatility and experience as he can start as either an outside or nickel corner and brings some more experience to what was a young defensive backfield. The combo of Hill and John Johnson should help turn this in to one of the top units in the NFL.
