Every year, there are some shocks in the draft and the 2021 NFL Draft will be no exception. Here, we look at 5 teams that could surprise us all in the opening round.

We have already had some surprises in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft with some teams moving around in the top-15 picks.

The San Francisco 49ers, who had the No. 12 overall pick, were involved in the first trade when they moved up to No. 3 overall in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. Miami wasn’t content there, as they moved back up to No. 6 in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Those trades happened within an hour on one another but they won’t be the only surprises we have in the upcoming draft. Here, we pick five teams to watch who could surprise us all with a move or two.

5. San Francisco 49ers

The general consensus right now is that the San Francisco 49ers moved up from No. 12 to No. 3 with one goal in mind — moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo. The former Patriots quarterback has found success when he does start for the 49ers but he has yet to prove he can stay healthy.

With him no longer in the plans for the future, San Francisco is rumored to be interested in Alabama’s Mac Jones. Such a move in itself seems a bit surprising since Jones isn’t considered a consensus top-three quarterback by many draft pundits.

However, if Frisco is making this move, they’re saying he’s their guy after Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson who are expected to go to the Jaguars and Jets at No. 1 and No. 2.

Of course, the love for Jones could be nothing more than a smokescreen. Perhaps the 49ers are actually targeting someone such as Justin Fields (as they should be) and will make that call on draft night, which could throw a wrench in the plans of one of the other teams that thought they could land Fields.
