Chicago Bears: 5 Cornerbacks to target in 2021 NFL Draft
Tyson Campbell is another cornerback with good size and athleticism. He measures 6-1 and weighs 193 pounds. He has smooth hips and agile feet to keep up with any receiver’s route.
Combine his good speed (he was a high school sprint champion in Florida) with his length and athleticism and you have a very intriguing prospect. He could cover just about any receiver and do a good job in either zone or man coverage.
Campbell does a good job of keeping his focus on deep routes. He’ll watch the receiver’s eyes and with his length, he can outjump a receiver for the ball. He also does a good job in press coverage. He likes to get his hands on the receiver early and harass the route-running.
What Campbell has to improve on is his confidence in his feet. He has great footwork but looking at his film it appears as if he sometimes doesn’t trust those feet. He starts second-guessing and then sometimes gets caught off balance.
Campbell plays a physical game. Eventually combining him with Johnson would give the Bears one of the more physical cornerback duos in the league. His measurements are similar to Fuller and Johnson and his play is similar to them. He just isn’t as polished as they are but he doesn’t have to step up and start right away. One year of polishing should do him well and he’ll be on his way to a good NFL career.
