This is a pick that might test the patience of some Dallas fans while sending others into a state of euphoria. It would also feel much like the 2020 NFL Draft repeating itself.

In that draft, it was well known that the Cowboys needed to get better on defense and one of the primary targets was K’Lavon Chaisson, the LSU EDGE rusher. Chaisson ended up being on the board when Dallas picked at No. 17, but so too was CeeDee Lamb.

No one thought the Oklahoma wide receiver would be there, and as their pick inched closer the question remained — would they pull the trigger. They ended up doing so and Lamb proved to be well worth the investment.

Now in 2021, Dallas still needs to get better on defense but there’s another major talent who could end up sliding to them at No. 10 — Florida tight end Kyle Pitts. If we are being honest, this kid is a top-5 talent but with so many talented quarterbacks in this class, he could end up sliding if the right teams leapfrog Dallas for a signal-caller.

There’s also a report that the team loves him, which could make it very interesting should he be available.

As controversial as this move would be now, Pitts would be a huge upgrade at tight end and would really help them in 2022 if they’re unable to retain Michael Gallup who is entering the final year of his deal. Maybe, this pick isn’t as crazy as it seems.
