Dallas Cowboys: 3 Best picks to make at No. 10 in 2021 NFL Draft
By Randy Gurzi
1. Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
It’s true that Dallas needs to get deeper on the defensive line and it’s also true that a talent such as Kyle Pitts would be hard to pass if he were there. But the truth is, this team is probably leaning very heavily toward a cornerback in the upcoming draft.
The best player available at this position is none other than Patrick Surtain II, out of Alabama. A former teammate of current Cowboys cornerback (and 2020 second-round pick) Trevon Diggs, Surtain possesses ideal size at 6-foot-2 and 202-pounds.
He’s also fast enough to run with any wideout and proved to be able to attack the ball in the air. In his three seasons, he had four interceptions and 24 pass defenses for the Tide.
Much like it was said in regard to Pitts, Dallas could luck out with the rush for a quarterback when it comes to Surtain. It seemed highly unlikely he would be available at No. 10, but with some of the moves — such as the Niners going into the top-10 — it became even more likely that Surtain would be there when the Cowboys were on the clock.
Not only would landing him give them the No. 1 player at his position, but it would make a huge difference in the overall performance of the defense since they would finally have a corner capable of running with any No. 1 wideout in the league.
