Aaron Rodgers trolled Jeopardy! contestants in the nicest way possible when none of them could come up with the “Who are the Packers?” as a correct answer.

There was never any true doubt that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be a success during his guest hosting stint on Jeopardy! But he’s knocked it out of the park on every turn, even if he had to turn on the classic “not mad, just disappointed” father look for the contestants on Tuesday night’s episode.

The three contestants were given the clue, “In the 1960s, these midwesterners earned 5 NFL championships.” Now, most NFL fans would’ve likely been able to tell you the answer, and anyone in Green Bay surely would have. Rodgers, of course, expected that at least one person would correctly guess the Packers given who he plays quarterback for.

But no one did. Instead, the timer sounded with no answers being sent in. And Rodgers was left looking like all three contestants had stuck a knife in his back.

It’s hard to fault Rodgers for that type of reaction, though. Anyone in that situation would’ve reacted somewhat similarly. But the professionally polished flabbergasted reaction was done to perfection.

Once the Packers gig dries up, Aaron Rodgers very much could have a Jeopardy! future.

Much of the talk surrounding Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this offseason hasn’t been about him coming off an MVP-winning season or even that much about his Jeopardy! duties. Rather, the conversation has been about his future in Green Bay — what it will look like and how long it will last.

Though there is no definitive answer to that question. But whenever Rodgers does end up walking away from Green Bay and the NFL, Jeopardy! could have a say in what’s next.

Obviously, Rodgers is one of the guest hosts for the quiz show after the heartbreaking death of longtime host Alex Trebek. Thus, the show is looking for a long-term replacement that could adequately fill the shoes. And based on what we’ve seen, Rodgers might have the chops.

The Packers quarterback has been the right combination of witty, snarky and reserved to successfully host the quiz show. He’s been even more impressive than some could’ve asked, his reaction to the missed Packers clue being a prime example of that. Thus, we’ll have to see if this is just a one-time opportunity or if this could actually lead to something in the future.
