2021 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots get Trevor Lawrence in all-trades, chaos edition
(Pick via Patriots by way of Jaguars) – Whether at the No. 7 pick or if they trade down as they did here, the draft board is wide open for the Lions. You could make the argument that there isn’t a position that they don’t need to address as they tear it down for a substantial rebuild. So with Jaycee Horn on the board, they ultimately are able to solidify one area of the roster, namely the secondary.
Horn has NFL bloodlines as the son of longtime wide receiver Joe Horn and it shows. His instincts at the corner spot are fantastic and he has plenty of athleticism to keep up with anyone but he is at his best when he can press and be physical with opposing wide receivers. Pairing him with Jeff Okudah would give the Lions a young and dynamic pair of young cornerbacks to help build the defense around.
(Pick via Cardinals) – Denver would’ve loved to be one of the teams to get a quarterback but things didn’t play out in their favor. So after trading down, they have a number of areas they could look. Having said that, Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is a player who could be in play for them at No. 9, so getting him after trading down seven spots would be a big win for the Broncos, especially with Vic Fangio still at the helm.
Parsons is very much in the Devin White mold of hyper-athletic linebackers who aren’t fully developed. He had limited coverage reps at Penn State, so he’s raw in that aspect. But his physical traits are out of this world and his ability to move sideline-to-sideline, crash down and rush as a blitzer are outstanding. Letting him into Fangio’s defense would ultimately unlock his full and decisively elite potential.
