NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft
NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft: Number 15 overall, OT Kolton Miller
Offensive line help was a major need for the Las Vegas Raiders. To help out upfront, they decided to poach UCLA’s Kolton Miller. The hopes were high for him originally but adjusting to the NFL game has been much more difficult than what many were anticipating.
Miller was thrown right into the fire from the very beginning as an opening day starter. He was consistently beaten by his man every Sunday and the results were disastrous for the Raiders because of it. Quarterback Derrick Carr was given no time to get rid of the ball and found himself running for his life too many times to count.
Kolton was so bad in fact, that his 102 allowed pressures throughout his first two seasons were amongst the league’s worst. It’s hard enough to win in the NFL, but it becomes almost impossible to do so once the offensive line isn’t right. With his career possibly on the line, Miller finally showed major signs of life in year three. On the year, he was responsible for only four penalties. The days of pass rushers bullying him on their way to the quarterback appear to be long gone as he allowed only two sacks.
While it seems like he’s finally figured things out, we can’t absolve him for his horrific play in his first two seasons and our grade for him will reflect that.
