NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft: Number 27 overall, RB Rashaad Penny

You can try to be nice all you want and rephrase it to the best of your abilities but running back Rashaad Penny has been terrible.

Head coach Pete Carroll loves to run the ball, maybe to his detriment, still, he loves pounding the rock. In short, if a running back can’t get on the field in his rushing-based offense, then something must be wrong with said back.

Granted, Penny was playing behind the highly productive Chris Carson but when he did get his time to shine, he didn’t do anything with it. Penny finished out his first year with 419 yards on the ground and two scores. Not impressive numbers by any stretch of the imagination but at least it was a start.

The opportunity to build off his rookie year was short-lived as he suffered a torn ACL in week 14. The news may have been devastating but to be frank, up until that point, he wasn’t having a very good year anyways. He totaled a dismal 370 yards before he was forced to shut things down. Penny was horrific this past season as well, he played in only three games but totaled only 34 yards.

At this point, it doesn’t matter if Penny comes back healthy or not, his NFL career seems to be on the brink of coming to an end.
