NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft: Number 5 overall, DE Bradley Chubb

It was a dream come true for Denver fans and a nightmare for everyone else. Defensive end Bradley Chubb on one side and Von Miller on the other was exactly what the Broncos envisioned. The duo terrorized opposing QBs. The production of Miller wasn’t surprising as he racked up 14.5 sacks in 2018, but Chubb proved he could keep up as he totaled 12 sacks of his own.

Any doubts surrounding his high draft selection were quickly placated, however, he couldn’t keep his momentum going as a torn ACL saw him miss all but four games in 2019. Still, Chubb bounced right back in 2020 but didn’t appear to be fully there just yet. He managed to get 7.5 sacks and 42 tackles, not gaudy numbers by any stretch of the imagination but he was still given his first Pro Bowl nod nonetheless.

Chubb is in an interesting spot. If he can return to form, he could become one of the best defensive ends in the entire league. If this is the best we’ll see from him going forward, it’ll be a tad bit disappointing. Only time will tell how good he’ll become, but for now, he gets a solid grade in our book and would have been even better if the injuries didn’t slow him down.
