2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys fix defense, Justin Fields slides to Broncos
By Randy Gurzi
12. Philadelphia Eagles (via San Francisco 49ers through Miami Dolphins): Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
The Philadelphia Eagles added more draft picks in their move with the Dolphins that moved them from No. 6 to No. 12. Those moves will surely help them in 2022 when they also will cash in on the deal made with the Indianapolis Colts who added Carson Wentz in a trade with Philly this offseason.
For the Eagles, this now becomes a crucial season. They took themselves out of the race for a quarterback which means Jalen Hurts will be given every opportunity to prove he’s the guy to lead this team back to the Super Bowl. The problem is, Hurts needs a lot of help around him and this drop-down in the draft could hurt the Eagles in their pursuit of weapons for him.
With all the primary wideouts off the board, the Eagles instead decide to go after a cornerback in Jaycee Horn, while waiting on another receiver to pair with 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor. Such a move would be criticized but the Eagles do need help in their secondary as well. Horn is the type of player who can bring a great mix of size, physicality, and confidence to the position.
The son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee also brings NFL bloodlines and an understanding of what it takes to be successful at the NFL level.
