18. Miami Dolphins: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Adding a star wide receiver with the first pick really opens up the offense for the Miami Dolphins. But they’re not done yet as they have a second pick in the first round — after having three last season. If they hit on all these picks, there’s no denying they could become one of the more formidable teams in the AFC.
Here, they do land a player who seems to be very low on the risk factor. Georgia EDGE Azeez Ojulari comes in as a replacement for Shaq Lawson who was traded in the offseason. Ojulari is a bit undersized at 249-pounds but he has the frame to add muscle and he himself recently said he can get to 255-260-pounds which would make a difference.
As for his playing style, he has been able to play both in a stand-up pass-rushing role as well as with his hand in the dirt. The good news is, head coach Brian Flores has plenty of experience using players such as Ojulari who offer various ways to get after the quarterback.
Last season, Miami had a breakout campaign from Emmanuel Ogbah who they signed in free agency. The former second-round pick had nine sacks and looks set to continue to grow as a pass rusher. Adding the rookie defender to the same line will only make this defense more dangerous, especially when you throw in the talented secondary they already have.
