2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys fix defense, Justin Fields slides to Broncos

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (via Los Angeles Rams): Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
Much like the New York Jets, the Jacksonville Jaguars are also trying to rebuild as much of their team as they can in this draft and they not only got their quarterback of the future but also have a second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Also like the Jets, this pick comes from a trade where they gave up a talented defensive back and received two first-round picks in exchange.
Jacksonville had surrendered Jalen Ramsey’s rights to the Los Angeles Rams, where he’s gone on to become one of the highest-paid in the business for them. As for the Jags, they landed K’Lavon Chaisson from LSU with their first pick from L.A. and now they use this pick to add another defensive player as they take Trevon Moehrig from TCU.
The Horned Frogs safety has separated himself from the rest of the class — and while it’s not considered a very deep class at the position, he stands out as a player who should not only start right away but should also have a long NFL career.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 208-pounds, Moehrig is solid at playing the deep safety role and has seven career picks. His ability to take the ball away is his biggest asset and the Jags, who are quickly improving on defense, still aren’t where they need to be and sometimes the best way to help speed their growth along is to get a player who can give the offense a short field.
