2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys fix defense, Justin Fields slides to Broncos
By Randy Gurzi
29. Green Bay Packers: Terrace Marshall, Jr., WR, LSU
It’s hard to figure out what the Green Bay Packers are going to do. Last season, for example, they traded up for Jordan Love who is unlikely to see the field anytime soon with Aaron Rodgers showing no signs of slowing down. Then in the second round, they took A.J. Dillon which would have allowed them to move on from Aaron Jones and turn things over to a younger (more affordable) running back.
Green Bay then gave Aaron Jones a new deal, which means Dillon will still be second-fiddle at best. Of course, he will probably still see the field more because second contracts rarely work out for running backs — but hey, the Packers think Jones is different. Kind of like how Dallas thought Ezekiel Elliott was different. And Arizona thought David Johnson was different. And Los Angeles thought Todd Gurley was different. And, well, you get the point.
Back to this draft, the Packers should be looking to add more weapons in the passing game with Davante Adams having to do far too much of the heavy lifting without consistent help around him. We have been expecting that help to come early in the draft for years now and they keep skipping on it. In this mock, we finally add that player in Terrace Marshall, Jr. from LSU.
After playing behind Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, he finally got a chance to be the No. 1 guy in 2020 with Jefferson in the pros and Chase opting out. Marshall made the most of that opportunity and proved that he can be a top receiver and should have no problem in the NFL taking pressure off of a player such as Adams.
