2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys fix defense, Justin Fields slides to Broncos

32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
Tom Brady ended the GOAT talk this past season.
When he left the New England Patriots and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the two teams went on completely different paths. The Patriots missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2008 season whereas the Bucs made it for the first time since 2007.
If that wasn’t enough, they then became the first team to ever play a Super Bowl at home and knocked off the Kansas City Chiefs in the process. It was a season to remember and they could be looking to repeat this coming year.
Tampa Bay did what most Super Bowl-winners can’t do as they kept their starting team together on both sides of the ball. Usually, players go out and cash big checks but the guys in Tampa wanted to come back for another run.
That ends up giving them a lot of flexibility in the upcoming draft. With their starters in place, the Buccaneers can simply look for the best player and add someone who can help in a rotation now and develop into a future starter. That’s exactly what they hope for with the selection of Christian Barmore from Alabama.
Barmore really broke out during the 2020 season for the Tide and that all came to a crescendo in the NCAA College Football Playoffs when Barmore was just bulldozing everyone who tried to block him. With the Bucs, he can work behind Ndamukong Suh, who is entering his mid-30s, and take over for him when he does decide to retire.
