2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys fix defense, Justin Fields slides to Broncos
By Randy Gurzi
9. Denver Broncos: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
Yes, there’s a chance Drew Lock can still turn into a decent NFL quarterback but that doesn’t mean the Denver Broncos should blindly go into 2021 thinking he’s the guy. There should be even less of a chance of them doing that if the draft falls the way this 2021 NFL Mock Draft has.
With Denver selecting at No. 9, they find themselves facing the opportunity to draft Justin Fields from Ohio State. This happened due to the Carolina Panthers making a move for Sam Darnold and the San Francisco 49ers taking Mac Jones instead of Fields.
For Denver, they shouldn’t care at all why it happened, but they should just sprint to the podium and take Fields. Arguably one of the more talented prospects in years, Fields is really the only quarterback who can hold a candle to Trevor Lawrence in this class. He has the arm strength, the intelligence, and even showed off some amazing speed at his pro day which adds another dimension to his game.
Fields would instantly be an upgrade for the Broncos under center and while Lock could still become a good quarterback, Fields has the potential to be an elite one. That’s simply too much to ignore.
