Frank Reich has led the team to the playoffs two of the past three seasons. But the Indianapolis Colts could bolster their roster with some veterans.

They were back in the playoffs in 2020 and that was easier said than done considering an 11-5 record got them in as the seventh seed in the highly competitive AFC. The Indianapolis Colts are a team under general manager Chris Ballard that has relied more on the draft and less on free agency.

Of course, the club gave up their first-round pick a year ago for 49ers’ defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and he rewarded them with an All-Pro season.

Just in case the Colts decide they want to do some bargain shopping in the coming weeks or months, here are five players they may consider.

5. WR Damiere Byrd (New England Patriots)

Acquired via trade from the Philadelphia Eagles in March, quarterback Carson Wentz is looking to get his career back on track. If he’s in the initial lineup come Week 1, he will be the team’s fifth different opening-day starter behind center, joining Scott Tolzien (2017), Andrew Luck (2018), Jacoby Brissett (2019) and Philip Rivers this past season.

T.Y. Hilton is back for his 10th season, unsung Zach Pascal is back after signing his restricted free agent tender and 2020 second-round pick Michael Pittman finished fourth on the team with 40 catches (1 TD). Damiere Byrd enjoyed a career year in New England, snaring 47 passes for 604 yards and one score. He could come at a very reasonable price and add depth to the Colts’ receiving corps.
