Packers Day 2 WR target No. 5: D’Wayne Eskridge, Western Michigan

Anyone who has been on Twitter since the Senior Bowl is likely familiar with D’Wayne Eskridge and his ascent up draft boards. And as you watch and read about what he did in Mobile and combine it with the film from his time at Western Michigan, this is a player who has a clear role in the NFL as he transitions to the pro level.

Despite the fact that Eskridge never had more than 38 receptions or 784 yards in a single season, he still had eight touchdowns (on only 34 catches) in six games for the 2020 season and averaged an insane 23.1 yards per reception.

Eskridge is a burner in the purest sense of the term. He ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at his pro day but his explosiveness out of the gates showed what type of athlete you’re talking about as he posted a 1.51-second 10-yard split. Of course, he does have his drawbacks as his 5-8.75, 190-pound size and the fact that he’s already 24 years old don’t work in his favor.

Having said that, he could be a high-end role player for the Packers as a deep threat that demands attention whenever he’s on the field. Pairing that type of threat with a player like Adams is enticing. Moreover, Eskridge could be available at No. 92 when the Pack picks at the end of the third round, which only further adds to his draft value in the case of Green Bay.
