Green Bay Packers: 7 Wide receivers to target on Day 2 of 2021 NFL Draft
Packers Day 2 WR target No. 1: Elijah Moore, Ole Miss
After flashing early in his career with the Ole Miss Rebels, Elijah Moore established himself as a viable star with Lane Kiffin taking over the program in 2020. Playing only eight games in the shortened season, the wideout set career-highs across the board as he hauled in 86 receptions (a single-season school record) for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns.
It’s not hard to see why Moore was the focal point of the Ole Miss offense this past year, though. Despite his diminutive stature at 5-9.5 and 178 pounds, he was able to attack every level of the field with ease. Part of that was the scheme of Kiffin but don’t discredit the pass-catcher’s ability. He’s not only fast with a 4.35-second 40-yard dash but he’s shifty and explosive in short areas.
Moore’s size does limit his value overall in the 2021 NFL Draft as he’s likely a slot-only type of receiver. He also needs to work to develop his route tree as the offense in Oxford did limit what he showed in that capacity.
That said, he would be a perfect fit in Green Bay for what they need as a target monster who opens up the field for Adams and creates his own looks at all levels. The only thing that should stop the Packers from taking Moore is if he doesn’t fall to them in the second round — and even then, if he’s in a range where they could trade up at a low cost, they should make that move.
