3-Round 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Broncos, Bears trade up for quarterbacks
By Randy Gurzi
12. Philadelphia Eagles (via San Francisco 49ers through Miami Dolphins): Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama
The Philadelphia Eagles were the second team that the Miami Dolphins included in their pre-draft trades. Miami wasn’t happy being at No. 12, so they gave up a first-round pick for the Eagles to swap places with them. Philly is now on the board at No. 12 where they have a tough decision to make.
Still needing help at receiver, they could look to add someone such as Rashod Bateman but they also need to improve their defense.
And while the Minnesota wide receiver could be a day one starter, there’s a top-10 talent that fell to them here at No. 12 in Patrick Surtain II. Philadelphia ends up taking the former Alabama standout who will quickly improve their secondary.
Surtain, the son of a former NFL Pro Bowler, has the size, speed, and instincts to match up with any wideout in the game which is exactly what’s needed in this secondary. Of course, they still need to add more offensive firepower to surround Jalen Hurts with, but with an early pick in the second round, they should still be able to get that done while drafting the top player on the board here.
