3-Round 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Broncos, Bears trade up for quarterbacks
By Randy Gurzi
20. Dallas Cowboys (via Chicago Bears): Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
Trade: Dallas Cowboys send pick No. 10 to the Chicago Bears for Pick No. 20 (Round 1), Pick No. 52 (Round 2), and a 2022 Second-Round Pick
After trading down from No. 10 to No. 20, the Dallas Cowboys are on the clock. Their fans will surely be upset they passed on Patrick Surtain, but adding pick No. 52 in this class, as well as a No. 2 pick in 2022, will help them forget about the trade. And on top of that, Dallas lands a starting cornerback anyway at No. 20 with Caleb Farley from Virginia Tech.
In the end, this could be a huge win for the Cowboys. It wasn’t too long ago when Farley was in the conversation as the No. 1 or No. 2 cornerback and it seemed he could be a top-10 pick.
Farley converted from wide receiver and while he was new to the cornerback position, he was a stud in 2019 for the Hokies. Even bigger things were expected from him in 2020 but he opted out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even so, Farley was considered in the same class as Surtain, but then a back injury messed things up for him and teams could be a bit concerned.
Having said that, Farley assured anyone who will listen that he’s going to be good and the injury was a freak thing from working out. Of course, there will still be caution but if Dallas lands two more second-round picks and Farley is healthy, they’re going to look brilliant.
