NFL Draft: 30 best No. 1 overall picks in league history: number 18, QB Michael Vick

Stats:

  • 22464 passing yards
  • 133 passing touchdowns
  • 6,109 rushing yards
  • 36 touchdowns

Awards:

  • 4 time Pro Bowler
  • 2010 Comeback Player of the Year

There may have been players who were more talented, maybe some compiled better careers during their time in the league and others certainly had a higher level of success, but no one was more captivating than Michael Vick.

Chosen with the number one overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, Vick was a unique player in every sense. At one point in time, Vick was must-watch television. With plenty of strength in his arm to get the ball where it needed to go, Vick struggled with accuracy for the majority of his career. After all, Vick only cracked at least 60 percent passing in two seasons during his time in the NFL.

It was all about the legs for Vick, defenses virtually stood no chance in taking him down to the ground. His 6,109 rushing yards are a league record for rushing yards in a career for a quarterback. More than anything, Vick was just a dynamic athlete. Oftentimes, players on the opposing sidelines would get caught up in his ability to avoid hits and take off down the sidelines.

Unfortunately for Vick, he never came close to winning a Super Bowl let alone making an appearance but he’s iconic in every sense of the world.
