Kansas City Chiefs: Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
There’s no doubt the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be looking at an offensive tackle with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft which was No. 31 overall. That won’t happen now, however, since they decided to trade that pick to the Baltimore Ravens as part of a package for Orlando Brown, Jr.
A former standout at Oklahoma, Brown had one of the worst combines in recent memory and then proceeded to show us that too much stock is placed on workouts. He ended up being a star for the Ravens, proving that his actual game footage mattered more than what he did in the Underwear Olympics.
Brown also proved he could handle the left side of the line when he replaced an injured Ronnie Stanley and after saying he wanted to stay on that side, Kansas City made the move and both he and the team should be really happy.
Having said all of that, the Chiefs could still use more talent on the offensive line especially after releasing right tackle Mitchell Schwartz. One player who could get the job done — and is still a possibility for them based on where they’re drafting now without a day one pic — is Spencer Brown from Northern Iowa.
Considered a potential starting right tackle, Brown is a massive player at 6-foot-8 and 314-pounds. He has length to spare and would help the Chiefs shore up what was a weakness for them down the stretch in 2020. They have their $500 million quarterback, now they just need to protect him.
