Los Angeles Chargers: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

Last season, Justin Herbert proved he was well worth their first-round pick. He started 15 games with a record of 6-9 and set some rookie records with 4,336 yards and a 31-to10 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Heading into 2021, the Los Angeles Chargers need to make sure they add more help around him. And the most important spot they need to add talent is their offensive line. That makes Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell their best fit.

Not only does he fill a huge need for them, but he has experience working with Herbert as the two were teammates with the Ducks. With L.A. he could again protect Herbert’s blindside — or he might slide to a different spot.

There are those in the organization who believe in Trey Pipkins who was a third-round pick out of Sioux Falls in 2019. Even if Pipkins proves to be the guy, the Chargers can use some help at guard and Sewell is talented enough to play there as well.

Wherever he ends up lining up for the Chargers, he’s a player who would help them improve by keeping Herbert just a little more comfortable in the pocket. They will need to add more skill players as well, but fixing the line is definitely priority No. 1.
