San Francisco 49ers: Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina

If you were to ask their head coach, it would seem as though Mac Jones would be the best fit in this class for the San Francisco 49ers. They even made a huge trade to go up from No. 12 to No. 3 as they apparently were that sure of his ability.

Of course, there’s a question as to whether or not this is the right move. Sure, the Alabama quarterback does seem to fit the system Shanahan runs but it seems weird to think he couldn’t use a more talented quarterback such as Justin Fields or Trey Lance.

But I digress, this is about who really is the best fit for them and that would be North Carolina running back Javonte Williams. The 5-10, 220-pound Williams is a one-cut runner who is quick and powerful. He had a monstrous season in 2020 with 19 rushing touchdowns and three through the air.

He’s a featured back and the 49ers could use a new bell cow after seeing Tevin Coleman leave in free agency. They do have Raheem Mostert but he’s struggled to stay healthy so adding a fresh, young running back who can move the chains would be an ideal move for this offense.
