Dallas Cowboys: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU

Mike McCarthy’s first season with the Dallas Cowboys didn’t go as planned. They were struggling early and then things got worse when quarterback Dak Prescott was lost to a broken ankle.

In the end, they went 6-10 and are now picking 10th overall. That might be too early to take a safety but that’s still the position they need to address more than any other. And there’s one prospect who played nearby their home base who would be a perfect fit.

Trevon Moehrig from TCU is the exact type of player Dallas not only needs right now in their secondary, but they’ve actually needed such a player for several years. A true free safety, Moehrig has seven career interceptions and 21 pass defenses. His ability to get in front of the ball is something that the Cowboys defense simply hasn’t had at safety in a very, very long time.

2020 was one of the worst years they have had when it comes to pass defenses in their history. They have one of the better offenses in the NFL but until they can stop opposing teams from moving the ball at will, they’ll continue to struggle.

They don’t need to be elite on defense, but they just have to be able to make a couple of stops per game. Moehrig would be the prospect who would help them more than any other in that regard.
