2. Trading for Julio Jones would give the Baltimore Ravens an elite WR1 for Lamar

With players such as Kenny Golladay, Will Fuller, Corey Davis, Curtis Samuel and JuJu Smith-Schuster, among others, available in free agency this offseason, it seemed natural that the Baltimore Ravens would be in on one of those guys. The lack of wide receiver talent and depth around Lamar Jackson has been a glaring issue for this offense and the chance to upgrade was there.

Ultimately, the Ravens passed up on all of the aforementioned players. They did sign Sammy Watkins to a one-year contract but the former first-round pick’s injury history makes that a bit of a gamble, albeit a low-risk one.

It should be mentioned that Baltimore still has Marquise Brown on the roster, who has been better than some people might realize. However, the diminutive wideout has proven he doesn’t have the skill-set or frame to be a prototypical WR1, which is what the Ravens need to fully develop the passing attack and give Jackson the best route to being a consistent MVP candidate.

There is a belief that the Ravens could use a first-round pick on a wide receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft and they very well could. But if we’re talking about surefire game-changers that fits exactly what the team needs, no one measures up to Julio Jones. If there’s a feasible trade to be made, Baltimore would be foolish not to explore the possibility.
