NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 13, CB Marshon Lattimore
Originally selected 11th overall (-2)
Marshon Lattimore came awfully close to being the first cornerback taken off the board in our re-draft. For as great as he’s been, Tre’Davious White has simply been slightly better. But, that doesn’t mean he’s not a stud and someone the Arizona Cardinals will happily take.
So far, there’s been a ton of great defensive players taken off the board already, from Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt to Budda Baker, Jamal Adams and previously mentioned Tre’Davious White. Those are some star-studded names but none of those guys were as good as Lattimore in his rookie year.
Ohio State University taught Lattimore everything he needed to know about the league because once he got there, he dominated. Five interceptions, 18 passes defended and 52 combined tackles in only 13 games was good enough to land him the Defensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowl spot. Another two more selections to the showcase game in three years now solidifies his position as one of the best.
Currently, the Cardinals have absolutely no one even close to being on his level. With a whole bunch of issues on both sides of the ball in 2017, Lattimore wasn’t going to push this team from bottom feeder to Super Bowl favorites, but he’ll at least shore up one side of the field.
