NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 16, WR Kenny Golladay

Originally selected 96th overall (+80)

Enough already, we get it, you guys love to run the ball and play defense. Again, we get it.

The Baltimore Ravens have always played the same way. They were going to run the ball, throw it only when needed and rely heavily on their defense. That archaic way of thinking may have led to two Super Bowl titles and decades of success but in today’s day and age, they simply can’t keep up.

Before quarterback Joe Flacco was thrown out the back door, he was still a productive player but he simply had awful weapons. Wide receivers Jeremy Macklin and Mike Wallace were to be respected but Kenny Golladay is a whole other animal.

The former 2019 Pro Bowler has been a Godsend for Matthew Stafford in Detroit. He’s already put together two seasons of over a thousand yards and was particularly spectacular in 2019. On the year, he pulled down 11 touchdowns and caught 65 passes for 1,190 yards. He’s the sort of shot in the arm the Ravens desperately need on offense. Even with current quarterback Lamar Jackson, several big-name free agent wide receivers are refusing to sign there, mostly due to their run-heavy offense. Drafting a dynamic pass catcher in Golladay would have gone a long way in changing the outside perception of this Ravens squad.
