NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 18, RB Kareem Hunt

Originally selected 86th overall (+68)

We know, we know – Derrick Henry is the rushing attack for the Tennessee Titans. While it’s true that Henry has punished defenders at will and pushed their faces into the dirt, the fact of the matter remains, he’s only human.

Henry has carried the ball a ridiculous amount of times in his career already. In the past two seasons, the multiple-time Pro Bowler has carried the ball over 300 times. Although he looks invincible, he needs a reprieve at times. No one would be better to replace him in the lineup when he heads to the sidelines than Kareem Hunt.

In Hunt’s first year in the league, he was an instant Pro Bowler after rushing for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns with the Kansas City Chiefs. He failed to build off that success as he was let go due to a video surfacing of him hitting a woman. Hunt was given a second chance with the Cleveland Browns and has proven to be valuable even in a secondary role behind Nick Chubb. This past season, Hunt rushed for 841 yards.

Moving from starter to backup so seamlessly has been a thing of beauty for Hunt. Not only has it protracted his career but it’s allowed the Browns to have a two-headed monster in the backfield.

Henry is more than capable of carrying the full load but for longevity and team success, the Titans wish they could grab a guy like Hunt to pair with him.
