NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 19, RB Aaron Jones

Originally selected 182th overall (+163)

It’s all about the fit, and in the case of running back Aaron Jones and quarterback Jameis Winston, it would’ve been a perfect match.

The talent has always been there for Winston but the problem is simply how many times the Buccaneers allowed him to throw the ball. During his brief time there, they never really addressed the running back position but in our re-draft, we made sure they did.

Aaron Jones has been terrific for the Packers and an absolute steal. Once he was given the full-time starting job in 2019, he’s been a back-to-back Pro Bowler and one of the best backs in the league. Not only does he rack up the yards on the ground, but he has a knack for punching the ball in the end zone. In 2019, he scored 16 touchdowns and followed that up with nine this past season.

Jones has been so terrific in fact, that he’s made even the life of Aaron Rodgers much easier. No longer do defenses key in on the passing game only as Jones is liable to run it down your throat. It’s a luxury to have Jones in the backfield and that’s exactly the Buccaneers will take him off the board in our re-draft.
