NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 20, QB Mitchell Trubisky

Originally selected 2nd overall (-18)

The Denver Broncos are unbelievably desperate for a quarterback. Brock Osweiler couldn’t get it done, Drew Lock has been awful and everyone else in between has been terrible. When it comes to signal-caller Mitch Trubisky, he’s been a bust as well but that’s really only because the Chicago Bears moved up in the 2017 NFL Draft to grab him with the second overall pick.

By those lofty standards, Trubisky has been a horrific failure but if we take a look at his numbers in a vacuum, he’s actually been pretty good. Trubisky is reasonably accurate, connecting on at least 66% of his passes in two of his four seasons. He’s also been on the unfortunate end of several quarterback hits during his short time in the league. Despite it all, Trubisky has been incredibly durable. In 2018, the former North Carolina QB was actually selected to a Pro Bowl.

With all of his credentials, the Broncos would love to get their hands on him and thanks to our re-draft, that’s exactly who they’re getting. The Broncos know exactly how to win with a player who’s limited on the offensive end. In 2015, Hall of Famer Peyton Manning was essentially a shell of his former self but that didn’t stop the Broncos from bringing home the Lombardi. At least this version of Trubisky is better than the one they had in Peyton Manning.
