NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 23, CB Marlon Humphrey

Originally selected 16th overall (-7)

Cornerback Marlon Humphrey struggled to get into the lineup over on the Baltimore Ravens. That comes as no surprise considering how stacked they are on the defensive side of the ball. Still, after two years of picking off QBs and laying out ball carriers, the franchise was given no choice but to place him in the starting lineup full time to start the 2019 season.

Things couldn’t have worked out any better for both sides. Humphrey set a new career-high in 2019 with three interceptions and three forced fumbles to go along with 65 tackles. He quickly found himself as a Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro. This past season he defended 11 passes and set a new career-high with 82 combined tackles and four quarterback hits. It came as no surprise to see Humphrey selected to yet another Pro Bowl.

For the New York Giants, a game-changing cornerback is exactly what they needed in 2017 and truth be told, still need today. Too often was Eli Manning forced to go out there each and every Sunday and expected to throw the ball a million times and lead this group to the promised land.

Granted, Manning has done twice before with less talented teams but still, he needed help on the defensive side of the ball. Even now, with QB Daniel Jones running things, the defense has failed him time and time again. Giants fans wake up every day wishing they could do this one over.
