NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 25, K Younghoe Koo

Originally undrafted

For the vast majority of their franchise’s history, the Cleveland Browns have been perpetual laughingstocks. Fans would show up to the game with the hope of seeing their team pull off a win, only to be later seen sporting a brown bag over their heads.

In short, the franchise was pathetic.

With that said, that was then and this is now. The Browns have done a great job turning things around over the years. They’ve got a terrific defense with Myles Garrett upfront and Denzel award holding down the backend. They have outstanding receivers headlined by Odell Beckham Jr. and their rushing attack with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt is about as good as it gets in the league. The franchise has even picked up a reliable quarterback in Baker Mayfield. The one position they still struggle to produce good results with is the kicking game. Over the past few years, the Browns have ranked near the bottom of the league in that category including this past season where they stood firmly at 26th.

Those issues could be immediately resolved if they made the not so sexy pick in taking kicker Younghoe Koo. After going undrafted out of Georgia Southern, Koo has been excellent in the league. Once he got a real chance, he knocked down nearly every kick right down the middle. With a 94.9% field goal accuracy, Koo was selected to his first Pro Bowl last year. It may not be the pick that grabs the most attention but it’s one the Browns desperately needed.
