NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 29, TE David Njoku

Originally selected 29th overall (no movement)

We swear, we didn’t plan this, it just sort of happened.

At no point during our 2017 re-draft has a player gone in the exact same position to the exact same team. That is, until now.

Tight end David Njoku was originally selected at the end of the first round with the 29th overall pick by the Cleveland Browns. Now, yet again, he finds himself in the exact same position.

After watching Njoku for the past few seasons, he’s been a solid player but not a dominant one. While attending the University of Miami, Njoku’s impact and overall numbers were one again, solid. In his final year on the collegiate level, Njoku grabbed 43 balls for 698 yards and eight touchdowns. His best season thus far as a pro was almost a mirror image as he caught 56 passes for 639 yards and four touchdowns in 2018.

So far, his numbers have regressed but he’s also battled injuries and stiff competition on his own team. At times, you can see why the Browns took him at the end of the first round in 2017. He’s big, physical and makes difficult catches. Then again, he’s inconsistent. With the talented tight end still on the board, the Browns are going to roll the dice on him again and simply hope that he continues to improve.
