NFL Draft: Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2017 NFL Draft: 4, DE Myles Garrett

Originally selected 1st overall (-3)

It feels like somewhat of a slap in the face of Myles Garrett. The impossibly great defensive end was originally taken with the number one overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft but not only have two quarterbacks passed him up in our new re-draft but so did another defensive player in T.J. Watt.

Still, that doesn’t mean Garrett hasn’t been a great player because he has been. It was a decent start to his career in 2017 with seven sacks, 31 tackles and a selection on the All-Rookie Team but things got exponentially better in year two. When quarterbacks would go to sleep at night, Garrett would appear. He terrorized signal callers that year to the tune of 13.5 sacks, 44 tackles and 29 QB hits. Garrett was an easy pick as a Pro Bowler at year’s end.

The following season, Garrett was seemingly on his way to another Pro Bowl type year with ten sacks in as many games but a six-game suspension due to an on-field brawl saw his year truncated.

Regardless of that, Garrett picked things up this past season. He set a career-high in tackles with 48 and came oh so close to setting a new high in sacks with 12. It was his first selection as an All-Pro and more than likely, won’t be his last.
