2021 NFL Mock Draft: Bears trade into top 10 in Cohen’s final prediction
By Zach Cohen
Remember when I said this mock draft is what I think will happen, not what should happen? I specifically wrote that line for this selection.
Listen, I’ve been pretty vocal about Mac Jones’ fit in San Francisco. It’s a good fit. But over Justin Fields? And Trey Lance? All three quarterbacks have been pegged into this slot at one point during this frenetic draft cycle. At this point, it may just be a dart throw as to who actually gets picked.
But if I were stranded in a desert and had one guess to save my life, I’d pick Jones as to who the 49ers write down on the card when they’re on the clock. Call it a gut feeling. It’s likely between him and Lance.
I get why Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch would pull this trigger on the Alabama passer, though. After all, Jones is praised as this on-field quarterback that Shanahan only dreams of. For now, I’m sticking with Jones, but gut feelings change. I may even drop a last-minute mock draft on Twitter if time permits.
For what it’s worth, however, I’d take Fields here.
Alternative picks: Trey Lance, Justin Fields
