WR. LSU. 5. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ja'Marr Chase. player. 56

Is it weird I’m more confident in the No. 5 pick than the previous two?

Again, I’d opt to protect Joe Burrow with any of the top offensive linemen in the class. I’m also not one to consider wide receiver a huge weakness for Cincinnati. They could use an upgrade, no doubt about it. But snagging Penei Sewell here and a wide receiver or tight end in Round 2 seems better than Ja’Marr Chase and an offensive tackl or interior offensive limeman in Round 2.

I’m just not a huge fan of taking wide receivers so early, especially considering the recent ones to be taken in the top 10. Either way, I’m hearing Chase, so that’s who I’m choosing. If anyone has Mike Brown’s phone number, let me know. I’d like to give him a call about potentially selecting Kyle Pitts.

One other tidbit: Chase will almost definitely be the highest-selected opt-out. I expect most other players who opted out of the 2020-21 season to slide down the draft, though not by too much.

Alternative picks: Penei Sewell
